Cadwell is a full-service law firm, featuring a deep bench of trial lawyers and attorneys who focus on commercial and transactional matters. The practice areas listed here are illustrative of the type of work in which we are presently engaged.
Our firm, often called the Cadwell Law Firm, reached its 125 year milestone of continuous practice in 2016 after its founding by Ulysses S. Grant Cherry in 1891. We were a founding member of the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce in 1907 and have had had close ties with the business community throughout our history.
The breadth and depth of our experience in actual civil trials and appeals is a matter of public record. Less so, by its very nature, is the guiding hand of our business lawyers in significant enterprises, transactions and public/private partnerships that have helped fuel the growth, prosperity, and well-being in this remarkable city.
Our Firm’s historical practice roots were in civil trials, appeals and bankruptcy, but expansion into our current breadth started some 40 years ago. In our current practice we have represented hundreds of physicians and physician organizations in their most important relationships and regulatory issues, dozens of local governments in their most difficult challenges, numerous banks in commercial finance and credit card services, insureds and insurers in sorting out the most complex coverage problems, real estate developers in all forms of transactions, employers dealing with the maze of regulation of employee relations, and trust companies and large family trusts increasingly drawn by our state’s favorable trust laws. Our lawyers also guide governance of more than two dozen nonprofit organizations devoted to child welfare, education, conservation, suicide prevention and a host of other charitable and civic causes.
